Today, on 07 October, the closing ceremony and prize distribution ceremony of State Level Wildlife Week 2022 was organized at Van Vihar National Park-Zoo, Bhopal in the chief hospitality of Dr. Kuwar Vijay Shah ji, Hon'ble Minister, Forest, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Guest administered the oath of wildlife conservation to the students and officers/employees present in the program. On this occasion, Shri Ashok Barnwal, Principal Secretary, Forest, MP. Government, Dr. Abhay Kumar Patil, Managing Director, Forest Development Corporation, Shri CK Patil, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Conservation), Shri Pushkar Singh, Managing Director, Minor Forest Produce Association, Shri Atul Kumar Jain, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests ( A.D. & L.W.), Shri Aseem Shrivastava, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Production), Shri Chittaranjan Tyagi, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Development), Dr. Atul Shrivastava, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Working Commissioner and Land Entrepreneur), Shri Rakesh Kumar Yadav, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Administration-1), Shri PK Singh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Human Resource Development), Smt. Mohanta, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Admn.-2), Smt. Padmapriya Balakrishnan, Director Van Vihar National Park, Dr. Surendra Tiwari, Member, M.P. State Wildlife Board, Shri Ashok Kumar, Additional Secretary Forest, Shri Rajesh Khare, Forest Conservator Bhopal Circle, Smt. Rakhi Nanda, Forest Conservator Social Forestry Circle Bhopal, Shri Alok Pathak, Forest Divisional Officer, Forest Division Bhopal, Shri SK Sinha, Assistant Director Van Vihar and other senior officers and retired forest officers and a large number of school teachers, students, parents and media persons were also present. The stage of the program was conducted by Shri AK Khare, retired Deputy Conservator of Forests.
Prizes and certificates were presented by the Chief Guest to the winners of the State Level Wildlife 2022, as well as the winners of the documentary film competition held at Pench Tiger Reserve were also rewarded. Along with this, Wildlife Conservation Awards and Citations were given to the officers/employees for the excellent work done for the conservation of wildlife in different categories by the Chief Guest. The winners of photography competition, videography competition and trekking route competition organized by Eco Tourism Development Board were also abwarded.
Chief guest also released “Forestry Sandesh based on Cheetah Restoration”, booklet “The wildlife of Van Vihar : From the eyes of Raju”, Poster of “State Biodiversity Quiz 2022” organized by the State Biodiversity Board was also released, Booklet on “Dragon Fly” jointly published by State Biodiversity Board and World Nature Fund India, a book "Manual for Post-mortem of Wild Cats" by Dr. A.B. Srivastava, written by retd. Director, Center for Wildlife Forensic and Health, College of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Jabalpur was also released.
In his address; Chief Guest emphasised on the importance of the participation of the public in the conservation of animals which will ensure that the progress and development of the society goes hand in hand with the protection and promotion of forests and wildlife.
In today’s activities under the State Level Wildlife Week 2022, a fancy dress and face painting competition based on wildlife was organized for school students. 41 participants took part in fancy dress and while in face painting 39 participants from various school took part.
In all about 2217 participants tool park in various competitions like painting, rangoli, palm painting, henna, photography, face painting, fancy dress, debate etc. which were organized during the State Level Wildlife Week 2022 for the students of schools and colleges and open category in Van Vihar National Park.
As part of educational activities, Bird watching and biodiversity camp, creative workshop, Run for Cheetah, Wildlife photo exhibition, Photo exhibition of Vultures, Exhibition of Regional Natural Science Museum Bhopal on wildlife conservation and eco-tourism etc. were also organized.
The report of various competitions and educational activities was presented under the State Level Wildlife Week 2022 organized by Smt. Padampriya Balakrishnan, Director Van Vihar.
At the end of the program, Assistant Director Van Vihar National Park Shri SK Sinha presented the Chief Guest and all the honourable guests, award winners, print and electronic media, parents and associate officers/employees, institutions- Bamboo Mission, MP. Thanks were expressed to Eco Tourism Development Board, Biodiversity Board, Van Mandal Bhopal, Social Forestry Bhopal, Chief Conservator of Forests Bhopal, etc.
